UNIVERSITY OF NSW ENGINEERING WORK EXPERIENCE

The UNSW AUSTRALIA School of Civil & Environmental Engineering (CVEN) will be holding a work experience program to promote engineering career options to high school students. The program will be run during Week 9 of Term 2 and will be available to Year 10 students across NSW. The program will allow students to experience engineering projects firsthand across six areas of the civil and environmental engineering field, namely: • Coastal and Port Infrastructure • Structures and Design • Construction and Project Management • Water, Wastewater and Environment • Road, Transport and Geotechnical Engineering • Surveying and Geospatial Engineering. Students selected for the program will be required to meet daily at 8.50am, at Central Station, with each day of the program finishing at approximately 4pm at UNSW. Students must attend the full five day program. UNSW CVEN is interested in receiving applications from Career Advisors on behalf of students who are self-motivated, reliable, punctual, and who have a strong mathematical ability. Importantly, students must have an interest in pursuing a career in engineering. Please note that interested students must be confident in using public transport. Careers Advisers can nominate 2 students per school. UNSW will then select the most appropriate candidates from these applications. Mater Dei has had a number of students accepted into this program in the past and it has been a worthwhile and enjoyable experience. Interested students must see Mr O’Connell asap for an application pack.
