Rosarie Rocks!

Rosarie Rocks!!
We sure do! Welcome to 2016; to our returning and new Rosarians. We have started the year at a cracking pace taking out the House Chant at the Swimming Carnival and then going on to take out the Carnival as Champion House for the third year running. While Rosarie has some strong swimmers, it was the willingness to have a go and get in by so many others that most impressed me. Well done to all students who got in the water that night; whether to race, dive or scramble. Let’s see what we can do on land at the Athletics Carnival on the 1st of April.
Last Friday we held our annual Rosarie Day. Red frogs, red liquorice, face paint and Coke fired everyone up at Recess to then see some amazing prices fetched for teachers who went under Mr Andrew McLeod’s auction hammer at lunch. Our sale of food and the auction of staff and student Captains raised a great amount for Catholic Mission and also supported the Red Kite Foundation. I would like to thank those teachers who agreed to go up for auction for their goodwill and strong sense of community. I would also like to thank Mr Andrew McLeod from Fitzpatrick’s Real Estate who freely gave up his time to come out and auction of some prize lots. And finally; thank you to our Year 12 Rosarie Captains Matt Smith and Molly King who very capably led the day alongside their very enthusiastic peers. Good job to all!
Beyond sport and fundraising, our Year 12’s have been on Retreat, our Year 7’s have started Peer Support (led by Year11) and all Year 7-10 attended Motivational media last week. It has been a really positive start to the year and I encourage our Year 12’s now to start focusing their energies on their study as we very quickly approach the Mid-Course exams. It was great to meet so many new families at our College evening earlier this term and I hope we will see you again at Parent/Teacher/Student conferences held over coming weeks. The value of the three-way partnership in the learning and well-being of our students cannot be underestimated. I look forward to working with you all throughout 2016.
