The Shooting Stars Netball Report

On Wednesday 4 May, Numurkah Primary School trotted down to the St. Joseph’s School to play softball and netball. To start off, the netballers did a quick warmup, and then jumped straight into the half-court, to get an idea of their positions.

In the first quarter, we put our players in their best positions. In Centre was Taesharn, and the shooters were Haylee and Paige. In defence were Carley and Georgie, and our Wings were Anna and Sienna. Numurkah Primary School started with the ball. The whistle blew to start the game; Taesharn gave off a beautiful first pass, which was fed off into the ring where Haylee scored the first goal of the game. By the end of the quarter, it was N.P.S's four goals and St. Joseph’s two.

The second quarter started off fiercely with N.P.S getting the ball off St. Joseph’s and taking it down to their end. We got it up to the ring but sadly they intercepted. We kept running and trying to get the ball off them but eventually, they got a goal. We finally led the ball to our goals and scored! By the end of the second quarter, St. Joseph scored three and N.P.S scored five.

In the third quarter, we were all tired, but we gave our best. In this quarter it was weird because it was one goal after the other except when they got three in a row. We intercepted a few times, pushed through and ended the quarter with total scores of nine all.

We came off and gave each other some helpful tips and advice which really made a difference in the fourth quarter. We started with the ball which was a bonus and led N.P.S to an amazing goal; our defenders showed amazing intercepts and defending skills in general. The game ended as a draw with twelve goals each. Congratulations to both teams and an amazing game and great sportsmanship!

Poisonous Dreams Netball Report

On Wednesday 4 May, Numurkah PS had a fast but intense netball game against St. Joseph's Primary School. Even though we lost a lot, we really did try. As the first quarter was going on, we realised St Joseph’s was getting a lot of goals while we had none. The first quarter finally ended with St Joseph’s on 10 and us on 0.

As we were getting ready for the second quarter, we created a new technique. We moved Shaely and Olivia T into the shooting positions and they worked hard to get goals, and it paid off. Sadly, Willow had a fall in the second quarter, so Georgie came from our other team to replace her. Even though Willow was injured for the rest of the game, she was still there supporting our team. By the end of the second quarter, we had scored 2 points while St Joseph's had NONE!

In the third quarter, Tamika was Centre. Halfway through the quarter, we realised no one was scoring but St. Joseph’s got one goal at the very end. Our defence was really working! Before we knew it, it was the final quarter and it was intense. We couldn’t get the ball out of St Joseph’s goal ring which meant we wouldn’t be getting those 11 points we needed anytime soon. As it quickly got towards the end, we knew we lost, but we had tried hard and played our best throughout the match and changed our strategies effectively. When the quarter ended, both teams got in a circle and congratulated each other on an awesome game.

 The Question Marks Softball Report

On 4th May 2022, The NPS Question Marks softball players had a great game against the St Joseph’s team.

Some of the highlights were when four players made it home on Jordan’s hit. The ball he hit went flying past all the fielders. We also got seven of the St Joseph’s players out in a row! We achieved this by throwing to third, with Emilia throwing quickly and accurately to Caleb who caught the ball perfectly. Angus also did a great hit and made it to third.

Playing against St Joseph’s was a great experience. Everybody tried their hardest, batting and fielding effectively. At the end of the game, the scores indicated that NPS had won! We were all excited and now we are really looking forward to our next game.

The following players also made great contributions during the game: Arianna, Asha, Holly, Robbie, Lil and Levi.

Mighty Batters Softball Report

On Wednesday 4th May 2022, the NPS Mighty Batters played their first game of softball against St Joseph’s softball team. It was a tough game!

Our first inning was a highlight, with Stevie starting off as the first batter hitting the ball just far enough so she could reach the first base safely… the game had started! Declan and Marshall were able to hit far enough to get two people home and then our superstar Kade stepped up to the base. He whacked the ball into the outfield and four runners were able to get home. Other game highlights were Kade’s awesome catch and Liam’s two excellent catches.

Both teams played well, a fact reflected in the final score which was a draw, with 11 runs each.

Overall, it was an amazing game, the following players also showed great skills during the game: Liam P, Ash-lee, Wyleigh and April.

We are all looking forward to our next game.
