Middle School Report

As we head towards the halfway mark of the year, an update to our families on some changes to the Middle School Team.

Ms Lily Popovska has taken on a new role as Year 11 Coordinator in the Senior School. Ms Popovska has been an integral part of the Middle School. Her expertise and the care she shows our students will be greatly missed. Our loss is the Senior School’s gain. In the interim I will be overseeing the Year 9’s and any concerns or questions can be directly communicated to me.

Our Impact program is in full swing with outside agencies “Elevate” and “Success Integrated” delivering very informative sessions on how to best prepare for exams and time management advice for managing workload. Success Integrated delivered their hugely popular “Shape Your Destiny” seminar that will be invaluable for Term 3 when our Year 10 students choose their senior pathway.

Our Middle School students have been involved in many sports. Our soccer and badminton teams competed in their district round robin last week. The badminton side will progress to the next round.

This Friday the district athletics carnival is on with a good number of our Middle School students involved.

Our excursions have been plentiful with rock climbing in the city and bushwalking taking place this term. A big thank you to our Outdoor Ed department in particular Ms Hazlett,  Ms Rogneda and Mr Gayfer for organising them.

Mid year exams are fast approaching and we want out students to be as best prepared as possible. Revision notes and time set aside for studying should be the focus. We also want to support our students to ensure that we maintain a level of perspective; exams are not the be all or end all, they are just another method of assessment.

We look at the exams as an opportunity for our students to gain experience in how to conduct themselves and behave in exams. A key ingredient is to become  familiar with this process so that in the Senior School our students will be ready.
