Middle School

Year 9 Assembly

It was so nice to have the Year 9 students in an assembly to celebrate the end of our first full term back at school. Students have been slowly adjusting back to school life, reviving friendship groups and the demands of classes, and it has been lovely to be a part of this return to our new normality.

We looked at the schools’ expectations at Emerald Secondary College so that all students could hear our expectations on uniforms, use of mobile phones and class behaviours. I reminded students that if they were out of uniform for a good reason that they needed to bring a note from home to the Middle School Office in the morning to receive a pass. Students were also given a great run down of the upcoming NAPLAN tests from Ms Korsten.

On a positive note, we had Award Certificates presented to students who had 100% attendance and who had received 10 green chronicles during Term 1. Two students from each homegroup were presented with Excellence Awards as well. These were 9A Angelika Chaplin and Sarah McGough, 9B Evangeline Lushch and Elizabeth Males, 9C Dagmar Van den Bos and Joseph Stonyer, 9D Alice Berry and Amy Crosher,  9E Kynan Bennett and Katie Emary, 9G Miah Beardshaw and Aaliyah Khan Niazi and the top Year 9 student was Jonathon Aalbers. Congratulations to these students but also to everyone who has been doing their best.
