Senior Sub-School News

We have made a fantastic start to Term 2 in the Senior Sub-School. Our VCE and VCAL students have returned from holidays refreshed and ready to apply themselves to their studies. Across the board, we have been very pleased with the maturity and dedication of our students, and would especially like to recognise the following students for their outstanding achievements since the start of the year.

These students have been recognised by their teachers as one of the top two performing students for one or more of their subjects in Term 1

Congratulations to all of the above students! We will be hosting a celebratory lunch for these high-achievers next Tuesday in S-Block. Students will find out at the lunch which subjects they have been nominated for.

Our school captains Ruby, Michael and Vanessa represented our school at the ANZAC Day dawn service and the morning service in Emerald.  Our captains spoke about the legacy of the ANZACs as well as Australia’s contribution to the war effort in Afghanistan.  We are really proud of the leadership.

In other news, we have another superstar sportswoman to congratulate! Year 12 student Bella Lloyd recently won the “Off The Track” State Championship at the Victorian State Jumping Titles. Bella will soon be competing on horse-back for Australia on the international stage. What an amazing achievement!

Looking ahead…

Term 2 is a very busy time for our senior students because Unit 1 (Year 11) and Unit 3 (Year 12) both finish before the term is up! This means that there will be more Coursework and SACs than might feel normal. It is incredibly important that our students are supported with a quiet and comfortable study space, as well as plenty of time in the week to dedicate to preparing for their important assessments.

For Year 11 students, please be aware that Year 11 Exams will take place during Week 7 (June 6th – 10th) with a dedicated study day on Friday June 3rd (no Year 11 classes will run on this day). Year 10 students completing a Year 11 subject will participate in the relevant exams. Teachers will supply relevant study materials so that students are adequately prepared. We will be sending further information about the exam period in the coming days, including the exam timetable.

For Year 12 students, we are approaching the half-way mark of the year. Remember that Year 12 exams begin in early Term 4, so there are only 3 full terms of classes. The middle of the year can be a trying time for Year 12 students, so it is crucial that we help them to keep the end goal in sight and remind them that they are really very close to the finish line! Maintaining a healthy routine, including early bed times is vital. Students are always welcome to use the dedicated study spaces in S-Block and the library for after-school revision, and should reach out to us if they need support.

That’s all from us for now. Once again, a huge congratulations to our students mentioned above and well done to all for your ongoing dedication to your studies.
