Structured Workplace Learning

Term 2

This term, many year 12 students have commenced a VCAL Structured Workplace Learning Placement. Target, Coles, Big W, Holden, Vinnies, Greensborough Oz Tenpin Bowling lanes, St Helena Preschool and CMB Hair Salon are just a few of the places that have offered our students a positive work experience to date.

These placements teach our students important work skills including maintaining a clean and safe workplace, undertaking various tasks specific to their workplace and interacting with customers. Learning the importance of punctuality, listening to their supervisor and doing their very best, no matter how small the task is, has been of great benefit to these year 12 students. Additionally, they have built confidence in themselves and learned that they can succeed in the workforce.

This has been such a rewarding experience for our students. In fact, most of them express the same sentiments: “This is the best job ever!”

Well done, to our Year 12’s!

We would also like to congratulate Robbie P., as he has been offered a 2 day per week job at Watson Holden following his successful SWL placement.  His hard work has paid off!
