Attendance

We all want our students to get a great education, and the building blocks for a great education begin with students coming to school each and every day. School participation helps people to develop important skills, knowledge and values which set them up for further learning and participation in their community. Children and young people who regularly attend school and complete Year 12 or an equivalent qualification have better health outcomes, better employment outcomes, and high incomes across their lives. Missing school can have a major impact on a child’s future.

  • There is no safe number of days for missing school.
  • Every Day Counts as each day a student misses puts them behind and can affect their educational outcomes.

Coming to school every day is crucial, but if for any reason your child must miss school, parents can ensure their son/daughter does not fall behind by:

  • checking Compass;
  • urging them to speak with their classroom teacher and find out what work they need to do to keep up;
  • developing an absence learning plan with their teachers and ensuring they complete the plan; and
  • promptly approving any absences for your son/daughter through Compass.

Remember, every period counts and every day counts.

We thank parents for their support regarding this matter. If parents need any support re attendance, please ring the College on 5564 4444 and ask to speak to the Education Support staff member for the House of your child.  They are very willing to assist.

Facilities update

A Wing – The scope of works has been amended so at this stage we do not have a definite date that these classes will be available for us. P wing is the next wing to be upgraded and is expected to be completed by June/July holidays. U wing will have an upgrade, at this stage it is not confirmed as to whether this will be heating /cooling or painting of the classrooms.

The WAVE school have also relocated to their new facility in Henna Street.

We have received very positive feedback from students and staff of the building works, our school looks so much better.
