School Council

Wow, how is it already Week 4!!

We have our first School Council meeting next Tuesday 28th February at 7.30pm – if you are considering joining Council, please feel free to join us in the staffroom to learn more about what we do.

Promoting the school to the Maroondah community remains a strong focus for Council and we have two events coming up:

  • Family Fun Day to celebrate 100 years of Heathmont (1pm – 4pm) – our newly formed school choir will perform, and MPS has an information stand.
  • Bunnings Sausage Sizzle – a fundraiser, but also an awareness raiser (check the PA update for more information and how you can help)

Our other key focus is oversight of the school budget – a key revenue stream to assist the school is the voluntary parent payments. Payments for 2023 can be done through Compass or cash, credit card at the office

Within our school these voluntary contributions have allowed us to organise and coordinate the best possible programs outside of the traditional teaching and learning classroom structure.

These financial contributions assist us with the purchasing of art, science and physical education equipment and resources, to purchase robotics resources such as the BeeBots and Spheros and invest in decodable books that support our whole school Science of Reading literacy approach.

This in turn supports them to be exemplary programs, together with our exceptional classroom teaching of the established subjects such as Reading, Writing and Maths.

Further contributions from our families could support our school by updating our technology resources, such as laptops and iPads, as well as re-stocking classroom maths resources to ensure that our students continue to have the best learning experiences.

Kind regards,

Clare
