Principal's Report

Sharon Jacobs - Acting Principal

It certainly is a delight to work here at Marlborough Primary School; there is nothing more special than the joy of a small community.  It's week four already and so much has happened.  As I wander around the school each morning, I see our hard-working teachers and education support staff passionately teaching and supporting the children, I wave and greet families and students as they arrive to start their day, I wave to Camp Australia educators and say a cheerio to Russell our gardener.

This week we waved a hearty farewell to some of our Year 5/6 students, Mr. Moore and Mrs. Chisholm as they departed for Somers' Camp for 8 days.

Last Thursday the PA conducted a Family Fun Night and supported by Camp Australia, we sold sausages and drinks.  The evening was a hot one and Mr. Whippy did a roaring trade!  The students enjoyed free play with their friends and some organised games run by the teachers.

This Sunday at HE Parker Reserve our MPS Choir will debut at Heathmont 100 Years Celebration - Family Fun Day at 1.00 pm.

On Tuesday after school, I watched the students participate in Auskick exploring the world of AFL, building football skills and playing in a safe and super fun setting.

3 Core Values

Values reflect our sense of right and wrong. They help us grow and develop. They help us create the future we want. The decisions we make every day are a reflection of our values. Our Marlborough Primary School Values should complement our motto: "Strive for Excellence" under the three overarching principles of Learning, Behaviour and Community.   MPS has begun the consultation process with students and staff and now I invite families to have your say.  The attached Google Sheet will allow you to add any values that are not represented but also allow you to vote for a value under each heading.

Behaviour Consequence Flowchart

As part of our School Wellbeing Policy, it is timely to revise behaviour expectations for the students and the staged consequence process we will be following.  The visual below is very easy to follow and has been explicitly taught to the students.  The Consequence Flowchart is displayed in each learning space so the students are aware and can self-manage their behaviour choices.

New Canteen Volunteer

A big thank you to Rebecca who has managed the canteen for many years and is now passing the baton on to another parent.  Welcome to Jason Glennie who is now volunteering to help out in the canteen on Wednesdays at Recess.

Staff Carpark

It has been noticed that parents are using the staff carpark to drop off and pick up their children. This is a great concern as the movement of cars coming in and out of the carpark whilst children are going to or coming from class rooms is a great safety risk.

Can we please ask again that parents do not use the staff car park.

So many great things are happening at our school.  Marlborough Primary School is certainly the "place to be".

Kind regards

Sharon Jacobs, your Acting Principal.
