Class Prep/1 Rainbow Clouds

Preps have been learning the colours of the rainbow by creating an artwork. Tracing over the colour names and sounding out the colour.

Classes 1/2 and 2/3 have collectively brainstormed words that look the same but sound different in english and french.  For example orange and six.  They are spelt the same but are pronounced differently.

Years 4, 5 and 6 used classroom resources such as posters and dictionaries to translate words and expressions.

On our display board in our room we have the French Metro.  The idea of utalising this map provides the students with a visual representation of what our learning goals are and how far they have come, travelling from and to each station on a particular line.

In buddies this week, we explored 3D shapes with the Preps and Grade 1s.

Here are some photos from our first two Buddies sessions.

Connection To Country

While working towards creating an Acknowledgement of Country for our class, we have been reflecting on the places in our local area that we have a connection to.

We have all done an artwork of our special place based on Bronwyn Bancroft’s pictures in Big Rain Coming. We used oil pastel, watercolour paint, and sharpies.

We have also written about our place. We used Jetty Jumping by Andrea Rowe as our mentor text.

Jetty Jumping starts like this:

In Milla’s town, where the sun kisses the waves

and the sand tickles your toes,

there is a jetty.

On weekends they go jetty jumping.

Big, brave jumps from the jetty into the deep blue of the sea.

This is some of our writing about our place.
