Prep News

Term 1, Week 2

Prep Reminders:

  • We have many students who do still not yet have a hat. If a child does not have a hat, they are required to play in the shade and can not play on the playground.
  • If possible, please make sure your child has a piece of fruit/vegetables for fruit snack. This is a quick snack in the middle of the Literacy block to recharge our brains! Please make sure this is packed SEPARATELY to their lunchbox and that your child knows what they will be having for fruit snack each day.
  • As we have started to increase our time at school please be mindful that students will be increasingly tired and may not have the same stamina for after school activities while they adjust to school life.
  • If your child does not yet have a green (or blue) satchel at school, can you please make sure to send it with them this week.

What we have been up to...

We have had a fabulous start to school! We have learnt how to 'Give Me 5' when we are sitting on the floor. This means that our legs are crossed, we place our hands in our laps, have our eyes on the person talking, our ears listening and our lips are closed.

We also have been using a Sun, Rainbow, Star system where students get to move their name up when they are doing wonderful things like, giving the teacher 5, trying their best and helping to pack up.

Upcoming Fortnight- Term 1

Week 3

In Week 3, we will be continuing to run our Start Up program. We are still learning how to be at school. We have been practising going to the toilet, lining up, unpacking and packing our bags, bringing our belongings into the classroom, listening to our teachers and being kind to our class mates.

Week 4

Mathematics: In Maths, we will be learning about the numbers 1, 2 and 3. We will also begin working on 'trusting the count' - being about to count a small amount of objects and know that we have counted each one.

Topic: We will be working on persistence and sharing and talking about our School Value of Resilience.
