Primary Diocesan Winter Trials

On Friday 3rd March, selected St Philomena's students travelled to Tamworth to participate at the Primary Diocesan Winter Trials. 

 

Football Trials

Samuel Chick and Kasper Smith displayed some outstanding football skills and did their best to show off their ability.  

Rugby League

Alexander See, Richard Smith, Eddie Cory, Lewis Stokes, Leeroi Stokes and Zach Hobday trialied for the 11yrs & 12yrs Diocesan Rugby League team. It was a great day of league for both 11yrs & 12yrs. Some superb footy, lots of encouragement on the field amongst teammates and great sportsmanship. 

Congratulations to Richard Smith, Eddie Cory and Lewis Stokes who have been selected into the 11yrs Diocesan Rugby League team and Zach Hobday and Leeroi Stokes who have been selected into the 12yrs Diocesan Rugby League team. These students will travel to Tamworth to compete at the Polding Rugby League Selections on Friday 28 April. Goodluck, boys!

Secondary Diocesan Touch Football

On Thursday 2 March, 39 secondary students travelled to Inverell to represent St Philomena’s in the Diocese Touch Football Competition. All 4 teams are to be congratulated for their efforts on the day. It was great to see so many encouraging students supporting one another in their teams, displaying sportsmanship and competitiveness. Well done, everyone!

Congratulations to the following students who were selected to represent the Diocese at the NSWCCC Touch competition to be held in Wagga Wagga later this term: Katelyn Scholl, Aisha Moore, Jenovah Joseph and Haylie Turner.

NSWPSSA Cricket

Congratulations to Paris Barnes who represented Polding las week in the NSWPSSA Girls Cricket Championships. The Polding team went into the Grand Final being undefeated but unfortunately went down to Sydney West. Such an enormous effort by Paris, well done! 

Primary Diocesan Swimming Carnival

On Friday 24 February, our Primary Diocesan Swim Team travelled to Gunnedah to compete at the Primary Diocesan Swimming Carnival. Our students competed against swimmers from all around the Armidale Diocese showing off their exceptional talent. There were so many smiling faces, personal bests and St Philomena's school spirit out on display. Well done to all swimmers, you did a fantastic job!

A special congratulations to Zach Hobday who placed 2nd in the Senior boys 50m breaststroke. Zach will travel to Homebush on Thursday 30 March to compete at the NSWCPS Swimming Carnival. Good luck, Zach!

McKechnie Shield Swimming Carnival

On Friday 17 February, selected St Philomena's students travelled to Narrabri to compete at the McKechnie Shield Swimming Carnival. Students competed against swimmers from around the Moree Zone. It was a great day of swimming with amazing results. 

 

The following students were outstanding in the pool on the day: 

  • Zach Hobday - Senior Boy Champion
  • Nicholas Humphreys - 11 years Boy Champion
  • Agnes Tighe - 11 years Girl Runner up
  • Maggie Ball - Junior Girl Champion

Congratulations to St Philomena's who won the McKechnie Shield, well done!
