The Sports days for Classes

Monday - 1 MC,  1 LC,  4 DC,  4 SF,  5 JR

Tuesday -  5 RO,  5 JT,  6 LG,  6 KT, FHE, FSN

Wednesday - 2 RB, 3 MR, 3 KM, 1 MD

Thursday – 4 RS, FME, 6 TR, 2 FM, 3 AH

 

It is very important that children wear their sports uniform on their dedicated sports day and bring a drink bottle (or two on the hot days).

 

2023 Team Vic State Team Trials

Registrations are now open for any child (12 years and under) who would like to try out for the Victorian State Teams. The School Sport Victoria (SSV) Team Vic representative program provides a development platform for Victorian students to challenge themselves against Australia’s best school aged athletes across numerous sports at the annual School Sport Australia (SSA) Championships. SSV coordinate the selection process for Team Vic teams in partnership with relevant state sporting organisations.

Please read the Team Vic Information Sheet before registering. This document contains important information on the SSV Team Vic Program, in relation to eligibility, registration, multiclass, selection, participation costs and financial assistance.

Please see the new Team Vic Principal Endorsement Sheet process for the following teams in 2023:

  • Australian Football 12 Years & Under Boys (Closes on Wednesday 1st March, 2023)
  • Basketball 12 Years & Under Girls/Boys (Closes on Wednesday 1st March, 2023)
  • Football (Soccer) 12 Years & Under Boys (Closes on Wednesday 1st March, 2023)
  • Netball 12 Years & Under Girls (Closes on Wednesday 1st March, 2023)

Children are reminded that the skills required for these teams must be exceptional.  It is not a ‘Come and Try’ system. Children are required to check with the school principal or sports teacher for endorsement to go to the trials.

Colac Primary Lawn Bowls Tournament

Over the next two weeks, the Year 5 and 6 classes will learn about the game of Lawn Bowls. A number of children will be selected to represent Sacred Heart at the Colac Primary Schools Lawn Bowls Championships. This will take place on Monday 27th February at the Colac Bowling Club (near the lake).

Sacred Heart Swimming Sports Years 4-6 (note change of date)

The Sacred Heart Swimming sports will take place on Thursday 23rd February at Blue Water Fitness Centre. All children from Years 4-6 have the opportunity to participate in this event. The swimming sports will start at 9.45 am and finish at 1.15 pm. Children will walk to Bluewater.

Football Clinics

On Wednesday 8th March, children in Years 1 and 2 will participate in a football clinic organised by AFL Barwon. Children will need to wear their sports uniform on this day and may also like to wear a football jumper. Football boots are not required. 

 

Sacred Heart Athletics Carnival

The Sacred Heart Athletics Carnival will take place on Friday 10th March at Colac Central Reserve. All children from Years 3-6 have the opportunity to participate in this event. It will include many of the track and field activities including High Jump, Shot Put, Discus, 100m, 200m, Relays etc. The sports will start at approximately 9.40 am and finish at 1.20 pm. Children will walk to the Central Reserve. Children may still have a lunch order on this day. More information will be sent out via PAM.

Name: Harper Van Doorn (Yr 6KT)

1. Which sport is your favourite to play and why? Football because I like kicking goals.

2. What is your best sporting moment? Kicking a snap goal from the boundary.

3. Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a good athlete? I am good at running.

4. Why do you love playing sports? So I can get fit and to also have fun with my friends.

5. Who is your favourite sports person? Jack Ginnivan Why are they your favourite? Because he is a great football player.

6. What is your favourite sporting team? Collingwood

 

Name: Scarlett Gibson 

1. Which sport is your favourite to play and why? Netball because it is a fun and challenging game.

2. What is your best sporting moment? When I marked the football and then got a 50m penalty and I kicked the ball through the exact centre of the goal.

3. Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a good athlete? I believe that I can persevere and try to play my best at all times. 

4. Why do you love playing sports? I love the sweat and tears of sport because it shows that you are trying your best.

5. Who is your favourite sports person? My sister Lily Why are they your favourite? She’s my favourite because she umpires, coaches and plays netball. She is very devoted to the game.

6. What is your favourite sporting team? Hawthorn and the Colac Tigers (obviously!)
