THE annual Inter-House Swimming Carnival created a lot of excitement, starting when students boarded the buses to HBF Stadium.
A few changes to the format this year included holding the event indoors, rather than in the big outdoor pool, and the introduction of two swimming programs in two pools, including wild card lanes for more participation.
A new House had its sights on the top of the standings this year. Xanten House powered upwards from the bottom of the ladder to the top of the ever-moving leaderboard, and stayed there for most of the day. By the afternoon, it was two houses that separated themselves from the pack. Xanten and Magdeburg closely separated by a few points.
The overall result came down to the relays and fortunately for Magdeburg they controlled these events, claiming double points for most relay races to claim the Swimming House Champion Trophy for 2023. Congratulations to Magdeburg House.
There were many fantastic individual performances throughout the day. It was fantastic to see our Athletes return to the pool and showcase their abilities. In particular the school records that were broken on the day.
Charles Empleo - broke Brian Anthony’s 37.66 (2018) 50m Breaststroke record with a time of 36.81. Year 7/8 Boys Tongerlo Relay Team broke Prémontré's 2022 record with a time of 2:47.57. Congratulations also goes to the following individual award-winners who received medals at the assembly on Wednesday.
