Maurice Browne
Maurice was born 13th February 1965 and died on 27th November 2014 at the age of 49 years old. Maurice had Huntington's disease.
Maurice Browne started teaching at St Bede's College in 1991. His wife Carol and daughter Josie loved him dearly.
He was employed by Brother Quentin as a music teacher to Years 7 & 8 students. One year later Maurice joined the Year 7 team as a home room teacher of 7.3 under the leadership of Peter Healy.
Maurice empathised with his students and showed them that, together, they could achieve good results. Maurice reached out to his students with his kindness, patience, care and through his music. He became a very popular teacher, Students in Year 7 wanted to be in his class.
Maurice worked with a number of Year 7 coordinators it was Chris O'Connor, Brother Ray, then Quentin Smith and Steve Kitto. Maurice was also an assistant to the Year 7 Coordinators.
Maurice played the piano during class masses, year level masses, school assemblies and school productions. He assisted with backstage and also controlled the lighting at school productions.
Maurice loved being a home room teacher, he taught English, R.E, Drama, History and Music.
At the end of the academic year, Maurice would receive many gifts from students in appreciation for his efforts.
He was an organised teacher and was much loved by the St Bede's College community.
Brendan Sexton
(Ex Student, current staff member)
Brendan died at the age of 53.
Brendan was an ex Boarding student and current staff member of the St Bede’s College for 33 years, he worked in the College Library and then went on to work in the College Administration.
His many years at St Bede’s College had imbued him with the truth that indeed all life is lived in the presence of God.
His most distinguished service to St Bede’s College was to live the College motto - 'By Right Paths'.This was his response to God’s love.
Lance O'Reilly
I'm very sad to inform you that former St Bede's College Music Coordinator, Lance O'Reilly died on Wednesday afternoon in a road accident. He was on a road trip riding his motorbike when a collision occurred with another vehicle just outside Jindabyne.
Paul Tobin
It is much sadness that we hear of the news of the passing of Paul Tobin. Paul’s sons Claye and Jesse attended St Bede’s College and graduated in 2006 and 2009 respectively. On behalf of the St Bede’s Old Collegians Association we extend our loving thoughts and prayers to his family – his wife Lorena and his sons Claye and Jesse. May he rest in peace.
Br Eric Piggott
Br Eric (93) passed away recently. Br Eric had a strong association with St James College and East Midland in Perth. He was a member of the St Bede’s Brothers Community but in the past 2/3 years has been in a home. Please keep the Brothers retirement community in your thoughts and prayers.
