Thriving in the Community
While attending Lilydale Primary School in Grade 6, Keely Miutescu (7G) was chosen by her teachers to be involved in submitting a proposal to the local council on the renaming of The Cenotaph in Lilydale, to honour one of our fallen ANZAC heros from Lilydale, Ralph Goode MBE.
Keely was lucky to be 1 of 3 students that attended the council meeting to forward the proposal. The council loved their idea and approved their application for this to happen.
On Saturday 24 November, 2018 Keely was invited to attend and speak at the OPENING and UNVEILING of the Ralph Goode Reserve in Lilydale.
In attendance was Tony Smith MP, Local Mayor Tony Stevenson, Lilydale RSL President Don Parsons, Anthony McAleer and members of Ralph Goodes Family.
We are extremely proud to see our students making an impact in the community as well as the classroom.
Mr Goode was the first Lilydale resident to sign up for WW1 and also served in WW2. He wound the clock on the Lilydale clock tower for over 20 years and was on the committee that started the Lilydale Hospital.
His diaries provided a personal account of the day to day life of a stretcher bearer in Egypt, at Gallipoli and throughout the Western Front.
He raised a family and owned the drapers’ shop in Lilydale.
Clubs & Activities
Many of our Year 7 Students continue to take advantage of the various lunchtime activities and clubs available.
Rori completed a fantastic little Halloween project that she has been working on at Clay Club for the past month.
Thank you to all of the teachers across the KLA’s that have given up their time to run these clubs throughout the Year.
2019 Year 9
Elective Subjects
Year 8 students will find out their elective subjects on Thursday 20 December (Year 8 Awards Assembly).
Year 8 parents and guardians wanting to complete their child's booklist order for 2019 can do so for the core subjects; English, Maths, Science, Core Physical Education and Humanities- Geography, History, Economics.
The elective subjects usually only require basic resources (exercise book, display folder). There are no textbooks for any elective subject.
S and N - All students
We encourage all students to ensure they are aiming for a ‘Satisfactory’ in every subject. The way in which to do this is to:
- Be in class on time
- Take all equipment
- Have a ‘can do’ attitude
- Persist with their work
- Complete all work set for them
- Complete all homework
- Do the best possible with their assessments
Students should continue to self monitor and check their progress in every subject by writing in the planner, checking Compass and speaking with their teachers.
Year 7 & 8
Unapproved Absences
Please help us!!
In an effort to finalise absences for 2018, we require parents/guardians to please log on to Compass and approve any absences that your child may have outstanding.
If you need any assistance, please don’t hesitate to call Kerrie in the Junior School Office and she will approve the absences for you.
