Year Adviser News
Year 8 Year Adviser - Allyssia Lloyd
Year 8 students have been working hard academically and have been able to represent Evans High School at several different events. This term we saw students compete in the Blacktown Zone Cross Country and Blacktown Zone Athletics in a few different events.
During week 6, the year 8-9 Subject Selection evening occurred with several students and their families in attendance. It was such a fantastic opportunity for students to ask questions and gain a deeper understanding of the elective subjects we have to offer. In week 5, Year 8 completed their first formal Half-Yearly Examinations, with all students behaving exceptional throughout.
During week 9, the Evans High School community came together to recognise World Refugee Day. Year 8 students participated in the spectacular cultural showcase and should be commended on their commitment and efforts.
A reminder to all students, that the homework centre is up and running every Tuesday morning from 7:30-8:30 and every Thursday afternoon from 2:45-4:45. If you would like a permission note, please come and see me in the PDHPE staffroom. The uniform shop is also open on Tuesday and Thursday mornings for all your uniform needs.
Mrs Azzi and I are extremely proud of all the students in Year 8 and encourage them to continue working hard in achieving their goals for 2022.
Year 10 Year Adviser - Maati El Hafiane
Another term down and another step closer to Year 10 entering the Compressed Curriculum. This term has been an extremely busy term with several events taking place. I had the privilege of watching our very creative Year 10 students perform at our Refugee Week celebration, where a number of students sung, danced and played instruments. It was great to see everyone wearing their cultural attire and the buzz around the school was incredible.
Year 10 visited the Jewish Museum in Darlinghurst for their History studies and recently had the opportunity to attend the Careers Expo at Sydney Olympic Park, where students were able to speak to professionals in a range of different fields as they work towards their career goals. It was great to get out and about with all the Year 10 students and see them enjoying themselves.
Year 10 have a lot to look forward to in Term 3 and 4. Ms Espejel and I are always here to support your child.
Year 12 Year Adviser - Melissa Silva
This term has been very busy and exciting for Year 12. Students participated in our annual Athletics Carnival where Year 12 did some fundraising for their formal by cooking a BBQ. Year 12 really enjoyed their last Athletics Carnival at Evans.
Year 12 also attended a careers expo at Sydney Olympic Park with Ms Newsome and myself. It was a great opportunity for students to discover the many universities, TAFE and alternate courses available to them after they finish school.
Mr Tamayo and myself are really excited for Term 3 and are currently planning the Year 12 formal and graduation with the formal committee.
