Mrs Ryan's Fortnightly Reflections

It is so amazing that we have now completed another full term, one whole semester of school! I recognise it has not come without challenge as we continue to monitor health, the cold weather, Covid and the flu. A huge thanks to all of our families for your vigilance in keeping your children home, your understanding and patience of staff absence and modified classes, as a community we are truly doing our best. I would also like to thank all of the staff for a hugely successful term with their commitment, adaptability and positive mindset! It has truly supported all of our students to progress that little more, re-education into new school norms and being surrounded by our school family has been invaluable to us all!

This term has been extremely busy for our community; Anzac walk and liturgy, our Year ⅚ Leadership conference, Year 6 camp, Prep 2023 enrolment, Mother’s day, Catholic education week, Naplan, interschool sport, a swimming program, Lion’s public speaking, semester one reports, a new beginnings mass and tomorrow crazy hair day and Term 2 Terrific kid assembly! Wow….what a busy term. On top of the additional events and opportunities to connect as a community is our commitment to our teaching and learning. Our teachers and students have put in great effort to think, learn and achieve creatively. Well done to everyone for all they have achieved, enjoyed and had a go at! Being back at school in this capacity has definitely been wonderful, yet an adjustment.

Our following semester will see St Mary’s confirm an architect for our future master plan, start our four year strategic plan, possibly define staff intentions, leadership structures and employment for our following year. St Mary’s is also in the initial phases of planning our robust and relevant professional development for the staff and our community for the future. A great deal of consultation, strategic planning and school improvement is our focus. Our staff, leaders and school advisory council all contribute actively to these considerations. I look forward to sharing with you all what is ahead soon.

Tomorrow we finish our term with our Terrific Kid assembly (12:00pm), shared lunch and Crazy hair day! Crazy hair day is recognition of our schools collaborative efforts to interact positively in our school community! Well done to everyone. I look forward to seeing the many creations throughout the school tomorrow. A reminder that all parents are welcome to attend our Terrific Kid assembly followed by the shared lunch. If parents wish to take their children earlier than the 2:05pm dismissal, please see your child(rens) classroom teacher before you leave.

I hope that every student and family has a well deserved rest. It has been a short, busy yet fulfilling term for us all. Enjoy the opportunity to rug up and have some down time. Keep well, safe and healthy.

A reminder that Monday 11th July, is a full school closure day and no students are required onsite on this day. Our office will also be closed on this day. I look forward to seeing you all return on Tuesday 12th July ready for Term 3.

God Bless and Enjoy the break.
