Executive Principal’s message

Welcome to Term 3! Heading into the second half of the year, and hopefully some warmer weather, preparation gets underway behind the scenes for 2023. It seems like we have only just started and yet we are already looking into next year, whilst certainly not taking our eyes off what’s important here and now.

Over the past six months, Jason Burgess, our Head of campus, and myself have been focussing on CONNECTION. Although both of us spent a decade working at HCC previously, it was important that we didn’t presume everything and everyone was the same as when we were last here in December 2014. There are new people, new processes, new programs and some new places. I am sure you will all agree that the most important of these 4 P’s is People. Our desire is that over the next 6 months and the years ahead, we will make people and our relationships with each other the main thing. Of course, Jesus is at the centre of everything we do at HCC and Jesus talked a lot about people and how we should “do life together”. If you think about it, the other 3 P’s mentioned above – processes, programs and places - are all dependent on people and rely on strong CONNECTIONS between those people.

When we talk about people in our College, we mean everyone. Students, teachers, support staff, parents, friends and everyone else who visits and passes through our campus on a daily basis. As we begin to have more onsite community events and assemblies, the opportunities for becoming more CONNECTED will increase. May I encourage you to come along in person to our College assemblies. These used to be a weekly occurrence prior to 2020 and are now becoming regular again. You can find out more about the when and where by contacting our College office.

I look forward to spending more time together as a CONNECTED Christian Community. This is what the Body of Christ is all about.

Grace and Peace.
