Front of House

Can you believe we are half way through 2022? It is always nice to reflect on what we have achieved this past term and look forward to the exciting events planned for the remainder of 2022.
Like many of you, I am sure we will be happy to see the end of winter and to be able to enjoy some warm weather again. This winter has been full of viruses and other illnesses placing a big strain on families and our team, so we wanted to say thankyou for keeping your children home when sick and being so understanding of staffing changes. We can only cross our fingers that the second half of 2022 brings more health, happiness and sunshine.
This term I have been so proud of our teams as we continue to push our educational programs here at Haven to provide the highest quality of early education that we can. Our programs are all different and unique in each room but reflect the children's interests, strengths, intentional teaching, family feedback and centre/community events. Each team member here at Haven brings their own strengths to our service and we love to showcase their contributions and passions into our programs.
The River Room have been focusing on the themes of 'Vehicles and Farm Animals', setting up experiences that saw children experiment with gravity and force driving cars up/down and around ramps. They also created their large window display of a train which included different farm animals the children had created in craft.
One of the Sun Rooms greatest strengths are their focused interactions with the children and ensuring their space is set up to cater for all different learning styles promoting hands on experiences, quiet experiences, physical activity, creativity, construction and imaginative activities. Further, it is always such a beautiful sight to see at every experience that there is an educator down at the child's level and interacting with them.
The Forest Room (3 year old Kindergarten) have been committed to their termly goal of getting out to the park once a week, running a consistent yoga class and engaging children in STEM activities. Their programs cover so many topics in one day seeing children engaged at group times, inside, outside, individually and in small groups. Some highlights included yoga at the park, taste test science experiments and themed home corners.
The Field Room ( 4 year old Kindergarten) have shown huge amounts of interest in art and craft this term with the art easel being used everyday and fostering children's creativity. Further the room have focused on extending children's interests through creating projects such as a space, police themed home corners, box construction for art and in building areas and anything construction based. The Field children love to collaborate together and it is fantastic to see their teachers create engaging spaces for them that can be open ended and built upon over the weeks. This is then supporting by teacher interactions and scaffolding moments within the play.
Getting out into our community
Another strength demonstrated by all rooms this term is getting out and about into our local Rowville community. We have had trips to Rowville Primary School, walks up to Kmart and the supermarket, multiple runs on the grass, trips to the playground and even a road safety lesson learning to cross the road safely. We received 'Haven' vests for the children to wear which they all look adorable in. This is a great safety factor to easily identify Haven kids and teachers.
Getting out of centre allows us to connects with nature, keep physically active and our local community of Rowville and is always a highlight of the children's weeks. Where would you like to see us go next?
Enrolments for 2023
We have commenced enrolments for 2023, opening this up to our Haven Families first to ensure priority is given. We are completing enrolments in stages and focusing on a room at a time, with Funded 3 & 4 Kindergarten first round offers going out in July/August. Then due to large amounts of interest in our River Room we have now began offering waitlist bookings for children to commence in Jan/Feb 2023 with first round offers being sent out in September.
We cant thank our families enough for the amazing community recommendations and your kind words about Haven. We look forward to completing the enrolment process for 2023 and being able to expand our Haven Community.
As always please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions :)
