Robotics

Two teams of Year Six students from Saltwater College recently met up with like-minded students from across the state to compete in Stage 2 of the Victorian Coding Challenge.

Students were presented with a number of unplugged and online coding challenges, exploring various ciphers, code-breaking techniques and debugging problems. These activities led to the final challenge, where they worked at decoding an encrypted ciphertext.

The collaboration, communication, effort and perseverance demonstrated on the day was fantastic. Congratulations to Dhairya, Annie, Zohad, Veda, Hayli, Ata and Maitri for being selected to compete on the day.

The competition event, run by the Mathematical Association of Victoria and Digital Teaching and Learning Victoria, was held for the first time ever this year. It was such a success that we hope it becomes a permanent event on the calendar. We certainly have many talented coders at Saltwater College who would love to have the opportunity to compete next year!
