Kitchen Garden News

Our Foundation students have been enjoying their first two weeks of Kitchen Garden exploring our focus ingredient of bread. They have had experience grinding grains with a mortar and pestle, germinating barley seeds, observing the effects of yeast when making dough and practicing the cooking skills of grating and using a rolling pin.

Our first recipes have included; creating pita pockets with a selection of healthy ingredients and making toasted cheesy rolls.

Toasted Cheesy Rolls- a wonderful winter snack and great to dip in soup.

  1. Cut crusts from a slice of bread.
  2. Roll the bread very thin with a rolling pin.
  3. Choose from a slice of cheese, vegemite or freshly chopped chives to add to your bread.
  4. Roll into a log and toast in the sandwich press or fry in a shallow frying pan.

*Thank you to the helpers from 4A who have been assisting with our Foundation students the last two weeks.

A very big thank you and we are so grateful to Rama, Lewis, Isabella, Hawo and Aisha from 4 A
