Capital works project update

Next week you will see some activity on Napier St as we welcome May Constructions to our capital works upgrade project. The Napier St building and grounds has now officially been handed over and will begin to transform into a construction site from Monday onwards. Information about the works is currently being prepared by the VSBA and will be published to the community via a billboard, letter drop to local residents and digital updates published through our newsletters and on Compass. It has taken a long time to reach this point and so we're excited to hear that the works are finally commencing.

Shade sail installation on Napier St

You may recall announcements made by the government earlier in the year regarding the promotion of outdoor learning spaces as a strategy to minimise indoor transmission. Our school successfully applied for a grant of over $20,000 and our friends at Kodiak Construction have started installing a shade sail in the playground on Napier St. It is hoped that these works will be finalised next week so that we will have an additional outdoor learning space when we transition back to Napier St later in the year.

Semester reports and parent teacher conferences

Next week we will be publishing semester one reports to parents via Compass. You will receive information about what has been taught by the classroom teacher throughout the semester, as well as information about your child's achievements and areas for improvement. Specialist teachers will provide you with an overview of what has been taught and areas of achievement.

Early in term three, parent teacher conferences will be held and I encourage all parents/carers to make a time to meet with your child(ren)'s classroom teacher(s) to discuss your child's progress and set personal learning goals for the second semester.

Asthma and anaphylaxis action plans

Does your child have asthma and/or anaphylaxis? If so, I ask that you provide the school with a current copy of an asthma action plan, which is provided to you by a GP. These need to be regularly reviewed to ensure that we are providing your child with the correct response that is tailored specifically to them. If you're not sure if your child's asthma action plan is up to date, please contact the office.

Lost property

The mountain of jackets continues to grow in the first aid room and so I take this opportunity to remind parents/carers to check that your child's clothing is clearly named so that we can easily return lost items. If your child is missing a few items, please take a few minutes to have a look in the first aid room, which is located across the hallway from the office.

Congratulations Badria (SCLO) and Amy (tutor)

The Fitzroy family continues to grow! Congratulations to Amy who has welcomed her first child into this world. Baby Olivia was born on Saturday 4th June, weighing a whopping 9.6 pounds! Both are doing really well.

Congratulations to Badria who has welcomed baby Rayyan who was born on 27th May. Mubeen in Prep tells me that there's lots of crying in the house but he's very happy to have a new brother.

Flu Vaccination

It's not too late to access a free flu vaccination for you and your family, which is available until 30th June. We are very fortunate that Covid cases have settled right down, however there seems to be many children away with other illnesses, including influenza. A huge thank you to parents/carers who are logging into Compass to update children's absences, or calling the school in the morning. This helps us to manage our attendance data.
