All our 95 VET (Vocational Education and Training) students are progressing well. Some of our Year 12 VCE and Vocational Major students will be undertaking their Structured Work placements in Electrical and Early Education and Care during these school holidays.
Westall Secondary College is privileged to run two VET Programs on site – VET Cookery headed by Chef Extraordinaire Wolfgang Kessler assisted by Mrs Lynette and VET Sport and Recreation by Mr Sean Weston on Monday afternoons with 17 students in each of these classes.
Our 35 School-based Apprenticeships and Traineeships students are also making huge strides with a pathway whilst they are at school and beyond Year 12. Their employers such as National Food Institute, GRE8 and the City of Greater Dandenong Parks and Garden’s team for Horticulture and Supply Chain Operations and REECE and Metalflex speak highly of their reliability, work ethic and expertise. These students work during the school holidays on Wednesdays and Fridays and are compensated by receiving their wage and learning new skills.
Vocational Major students not currently doing an SBAT will be looking for Structured Work placements (20 days) in Terms 2 and 3.
VCE students have been working hard on their Career Action Plans and having one on one conversations with regard to their pathway. Excellent work Year 12s.
Work Experience is looming from 19th to 23rd June.
Great news ! The Beacon Foundation has kindly consented to Work Readiness workshops called PERFORM and Ms Collins and Mrs Nair and myself will give you this information when Term 2 commences.
Its EXPO SEASON Folks!
We welcome Parents and Guardians to visit our school’s Sport Centre where the Expo is held. There is always something to learn about Careers and Pathways and this partnership between our school community and key stake holders in education is so important for our students’ wellbeing and making their mark in the world.
