WELC Report

Message from the

International and WELC Coordinator

- Ms Debby Morgan

The last few weeks of term have been very busy in WELC. Twenty students will be exiting the Language Centre and have been doing Transition classes. On Thursday we will hold a graduation ceremony for these students and look forward to many performances by the WELC students at this time.

WELC students participated in the Westall Harmony Day celebrations in Week 8. Some of our students performed in cultural dances, while others dressed in their traditional clothing and participated in a fashion show. It is wonderful to celebrate the cultural diversity we have at Westall in this way every year.

On Tuesday all the WELC students went to Sovereign Hill in Ballarat. They explored the history of the gold rush in Victoria through this living outdoor museum. Students had fun going underground to see the mine, panning for gold in the creek, seeing a gold pour and exploring many shops in the main street.

The last day of Term 2 is Thursday 6 April and students will have two weeks’ holiday. School will resume on 24 April. Students will need to wear winter uniform at this time, including ties.

I will be taking leave in Term 2. Ms Summer Bao will be Acting Coordinator during this time.

We encourage all students to continue to practise their English over the holidays. We wish all students a happy and safe holidays, and look forward to seeing them again in Term 2. We wish success for all those students transferring to other schools.
