News from Foundation

Welcome to Term 2!!

What a great three days we have had together! The Foundation students have been so excited to be back in the classroom, and we are so excited to see all the great things they do!! Here is our photo from last term of our easter hats! They were all so amazing, by the way!

This Term, we have lots of exciting things planned! For Inquiry this term, we will join our lessons with the grade 1/2 students and learn about sustainability! Keep your eyes peeled as we hope to have our wonderful veggie garden up and running again! It was so wonderful, but unfortunately, due to the long effects of covid-19 we haven't been able to give it the attention it needs! So we are so excited to get in there! Let us know if you would be interested in coming and helping out! Keep your eyes peeled for an upcoming working bee for the Veggie garden as well! It needs a bit of work before we can start planning!

This week we have joined back into the swing of things in our Foundation classroom! We have been engaging in some activities around ANZAC Day, including making some yummy ANZAC biscuits! We have created some nature artwork and talked about the season of Autumn! We also had a look at Indigenous perspectives when caring for the environment as well!

The F/1/2 students also reflected on the Easter story during RE. They created a replica tomb (out of natural materials), reenacting the story of Mary and the other women going to Jesus' empty tomb. They really enjoyed telling the story with hands-on materials, which helped them understand the scripture more!

Next week we will be starting show and tell, so keep your eyes out for an email! We will also start out take-home toy Konnie the kind koala! Konnie will come home on the weekend with a student who has been really kind that week! They will spend the weekend with you! In Konnie's bag, there is a book for you to paste photos in it and write about what you all got up to! I can't wait to see the photos!
