From the Leadership Team
Continuous School Improvement
We are on a continuous journey of improvement in all areas in our school. Each year, staff develop a Site Improvement Plan and Preschool Quality Improvement Plan to guide our focus in student academic improvement. We seek feedback periodically through Parent Opinion Surveys and welcome incidental feedback as this also helps form our directions, particularly around school culture and improvement. We take on student feedback through different forums and respond to this with changes that help shape our vision.
In our last newsletter, we shared some information about the external review process that we are involved in this term. This process looks at all different aspects of what we do at Para Vista including curriculum, student achievement, staff learning, culture and our improvement journey and story. The first part of this review process (a round table discussion) is for the Review Team to meet with Melissa and myself to unpack some of our data, look at how the directions from the last review were addressed and form some lines of inquiry for the team to focus on when they spend time here during week 8. Our round table discussion will occur next Monday and we are looking forward to beginning the review process and receiving feedback once the process is completed later in the term. We look forward to sharing this with you.
Thank You to our Volunteers
All schools rely on volunteers to run programs, assist in classes and on excursions, and advise school directions through being members on committees. We appreciate our volunteers every day but next week in Volunteer Week, we say a special "Thank You" to anyone who helps in any way in a volunteer capacity at Para Vista PS. We couldn't do what we do without you all.
Neville is one of our long standing volunteers who has been a member of Governing Council and committees, helped in class, volunteered to help with events such as
Mother's Day stall and has been running our Breakfast Club 3 days each week. Last year Neville was acknowledged with our Volunteer of the Year Award. Unfortunately Neville is moving house and we will be unable to volunteer with us anymore. We thank Neville for everything
he has done during the past few years and wish him and his family well.
Thank you Neville.
We would also like to thank Liara from V20 and her mum Larissa for helping add to our graphic novel collection in the library. Liara really enjoys reading graphic novels, and so, her and Larissa contacted some authors and publishers to see if they would like to donate any of their titles to add to the variety we already have available. So far we have received about 12 books and are looking forward to having these available for borrowing soon. We appreciate the kindness of the authors and publishers and thank Liara and Larissa for making contact with them and gaining these new resources for our students to enjoy.
