Secondary News

Dear Families
On behalf of the Middle and Senior staff of Lakeside College we warmly welcome you to Term 2.
We hope you had a very peaceful and relaxing time over Easter and we very much look forward to working with your students in what promises to be another busy term.
As we head into winter, students will be expected to be in full winter uniform by the start of the second week in Term 2. Secondary students will be expected to wear their blazer as per our uniform policy.
Uniform Reminders
- Hair below shoulder length is tied back before walking through the gate.
- No airpods in ears at anytime.
- No phones - must be in lockers
- As of next week it is winter uniform including Blazer
- Hats are optional in Term 2 and 3
- No puffer jackets or hoodies

The College is aware of some shortages with winter uniform items at PSW, particularly with pants and shirts. Students affected by these shortages are to wear their full summer uniform until these items are back in supply. If the students have winter pants, but do not have a long sleeve shirt as yet, then they are welcome to wear their short sleeve shirt with the winter pants, with their tie.
Students are only to wear their Sport Uniform on Sport days please.
Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s homeroom teacher via email or one of our administration staff should you have any questions or concerns.

Student Leaders Initiative
This term our student leaders across the secondary school are organising a Food Drive. Our student leaders, as part of their community service have identified a need in the community to support Foodbank and the work they do in supporting members of the community.
Families are encouraged to send to school with their child canned goods each week. The homeroom that has collected the most cans of food at the end of the term will win a prize.
Term Awards
The Secondary school is proud to be introducing student awards each term, which will be presented at the end of each term for each Homeroom group. These awards are to acknowledge positive choices and efforts of our student cohort in each year level, separate to our Learn, Care and Achieve awards that are given at our Thanksgiving Services.
Areas of focus are:
- Making positive uniform choices
- Engaging positively with peers and staff
- Punctual to school and classes
- Puts in maximum effort

Careers Expo
On Friday Mr Vaughan, Mr Shultz and myself took our Year 12s to Caulfield Racecourse for the VCE and Careers Expo. All Victorian tertiary institutes were present, as well as representatives from various career groups eg teaching, surveying, engineering, hospitality, etc. By far the most popular stall was the Defence Force! Students also attended VCE lectures covering their chosen subjects.
