Art

Students have spent the first few weeks of term two finishing off their Joshua Yeldham influenced owl images. Students in Prep classes made paper plate owls and used found and natural objects to enhance their works.

The one/two classes finished their recycled cardboard owls using oil pastels to add colour and stuck various objects to their owls. Students also learnt to roll balls of wool and do finger knitting to attach to their hanging owls.

Students in classes three/four completed their collage owl paintings. These look amazing and so imaginative.

Students in three/four classes also had the opportunity to work with artist Sarah Metzner, to create people using pipe cleaners and wool. The students' wool people will be used in an exhibition focusing on the plights of refugees. More information coming through Compass.

Students in five/six classes have put thefinal touches to their owl canvases. I have loved seeing the students develop their images and extend their learning by challenging themselves creatively. All classes have begun work in their sketchbooks developing Yeldham inspired clay owl sculptures.

To support student learning, parents are invited to assist in the art room. You will need a current working with children check. Please sign in at the office before you come to the art room.

Craft Group

The TPS community craft group is up and running again. This has always been a great way for our parents, grandparents and carers to meet other community members in a creative space, to create craft things to sell at our next BBQ or Art festival. If you are interested in picking up a new skill or would like to share a skill, then this would be perfect for you. Your toddlers are also welcome to join you in the art room.  Please contact Merrin for further information. memlayden@gmail.com.

Thank you,
