Celebrating Learning

Maths:

Over the past two weeks, 1S have been introduced to addition through the use of concrete materials, stories, games and play. They made their own addition story books and went on a number scavenger hunt throughout the room to find missing numbers. They have used tens frames and number lines to help them solve addition problems. 

Literacy: 

1S have started exploring the writing process (seed, plan, draft, edit, revise, and publish).

They have been drawing inspiration from images, books and experiences to come up with a seed for their stories and have used these to create their own story plans. In the coming weeks we will continue to explore this process and students will work at their own pace.

1S have also recently enjoyed incursions by Musica Viva (Walking in the Wilderness) and the Royal Botanic Gardens. Mindful Movement with Mirella has also begun in the past fortnight.
