CAPTAINS CORNER
At the start of Term 2, we braved the wet weather for our LAST ever Athletics Day. It was great to see so many students dress up, especially the Ninja Turtles with their homemade costumes. Bakhiet may have had the most blue ribbons at the end of the day but there was no official count. VM ran the canteen and made some important funds for the program. It was a great way to sign off as Year 12s.
We also took part in Senior Sport over this term. The boys football team saw Alex N kick his first ever goal playing the sport and Charlie W take out best on grounds in his games. The girls netball team won a pennant for winning the A pool on the day. Well done!
The Senior Formal was a chilly night but it was great to see everyone dressed up and enjoying themselves. Nathan M took out an award on the night and Ebony K was voted best dancer. The next formal date on the calendar for the Year 12s is Valedictory.
It’s been a busy term and we still have House competitions coming up in Week 6. Get involved!

SWL + VET
All VCE VM students have had classroom sessions with Amy recently to ensure they have a Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) placement organised. All students need to ensure they meet the 80 hour requirement before the end of Term 3 to gain their SWL-Recognition credit. A lot of students have responded positively and now have great placements in place. If you are struggling with organising your own placement, call Amy in the VM office on 9788 2006 or the College on 9789 4544.
FRANKSTON EAST PRIMARY SCHOOL
Students in Year 11 VCE VM visited the students at Frankston East Primary School to run reading sessions. Our Year 11s had spent weeks creating original children’s books and used the young students as a target audience to conduct final edits on their stories prior to publication. The session was a huge success and a great partnership has been forged. Next term, our year 11s will conduct more practical projects at this great primary school around the grounds and play equipment. Great work on positive representation of the College!
BUDDY PROGRAM
For Unit 1 Vocational Major, students have been working hard to gain a deep understanding of what it means to be a healthy Individual, including personal identities and emotional intelligences. To further extend their learning, students have explored the concepts of health and wellbeing for individuals and groups and what it looks like in the community. Year 11 students have engaged in understanding the issues of mental health and the various factors that affect young people in a negative way.
ABCN INTERVIEW TO IMPRESS
Two groups of Year 12 students travelled out to the City to take part in an executive interview program with Management Firm, Korn Ferry. The program, facilitated by ABCN, helped students to prepare for important job interviews by pairing them with experienced mentors from the corporate world. Students conducted interview workshops, had a working lunch (provided!) and then sat in various practice interviews to complete the session. The feedback from the students and mentors was incredibly positive.

ARDOCH HOLMESGLEN VISIT
Year 11 and 12 students conducted a tour and practical workshops at Holmesglen TAFE through our great partnership with Ardoch, who funded the program. Students completed practical demonstrations and workshops in Health Services, Nursing, Gaming, Engineering, Hospitality and Early Education. The session finished with a presentation from St Kilda FC and the Early Education Department on course options for secondary students and school leavers.
