Celebrating Mid-Term 2 Achievements in Hollows House

Dear Hollows House Community,

We have reached the midpoint of Term 2, and what a fantastic journey it has been so far in Hollows House! As we take a moment to reflect on the past weeks, it is evident that our school has been abuzz with numerous events and activities, enriching the learning experience for our students. Let's take a moment to celebrate and recognize the milestones we have achieved together.

Whole School Athletics Day: We kicked off the term with an energetic start, hosting our exhilarating Whole School Athletics Day. Students showcased their athletic prowess and demonstrated teamwork, resilience, and determination throughout the day. It was a true testament to the spirit of healthy competition and camaraderie that Hollows House embodies.

Attitudes to School Survey: Our commitment to creating a positive and nurturing environment was reinforced by the completion of the Attitudes to School Survey. We value the feedback provided by students, as it helps us shape our strategies and programs to better support our community. Thank you to all who participated and contributed to this invaluable insight.

E-Smart Week and IDAHOBIT Day: Promoting digital citizenship and fostering an inclusive community are fundamental to our ethos in Hollows House. E-Smart Week allowed us to raise awareness about responsible internet usage and digital safety. Additionally, we celebrated IDAHOBIT (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia, and Transphobia) Day, showcasing our unwavering commitment to creating a welcoming and accepting school environment for all.

Multicultural Assembly and Free Dress Day: Our recent Multicultural Assembly was a remarkable event that showcased the rich diversity within our school community. Students took pride in their cultural heritage by donning traditional or multicultural attire on our vibrant Free Dress Day. It was a visual celebration of the unique backgrounds and experiences that contribute to the tapestry of our Hollows House family and the wider school community.

National Careers Week and Year 10 Career Expo Day: Preparing our students for their future is a key priority at Hampton Park SC. We actively participated in National Careers Week, empowering students to explore various career pathways. Our Year 10 students had the opportunity to engage in a dynamic Career Expo Day and gain valuable insights through mock interviews. These experiences are instrumental in guiding them toward informed decisions during our upcoming course counselling sessions in early Term 3.

Try-a-Trade Expo and Morrisby Testing: Encouraging students to discover their passions and strengths, we facilitated their participation in the Try-a-Trade Expo. This hands-on experience allowed them to explore potential vocational pathways. Additionally, Morrisby Testing provided invaluable insights into students' aptitudes, enabling them to make informed decisions about their future academic pursuits.

Elevate Education in the Senior School: Our senior students have been supported by Elevate Education in their journey to develop effective study skills and habits. These essential tools will not only benefit them in the short term but also empower them to excel academically and make confident choices during their upcoming course counselling sessions.

Year 7 Lady Northcote Adventure Camp: Our Year 7 students embarked on an exciting outdoor adventure at the Lady Northcote Adventure Camp. Through activities such as yabbying, canoeing, an initiatives course, and mountain bike riding, they embraced challenges, built resilience, and formed lasting friendships. These experiences will undoubtedly contribute to their personal growth and development.

Looking Ahead: As we transition into the second semester next week, we eagerly anticipate new subjects and electives that will further broaden our students' ability and strengths in particular areas. Senior students are gearing up for their mid-year exams, showcasing their knowledge and skills acquired thus far. Also in Week 7, our Year 9 students will embark on the City Experience, immersing themselves in the vibrant life of our city. Furthermore, our Vocational Major students will engage in structured workplace learning (SWL), gaining invaluable hands-on experience in their chosen fields.

Important Dates: Please take note of the following important dates in week 8:

  • June 12th: King's Birthday public holiday - no scheduled classes.
  • June 13th: Professional Practice Day- no scheduled classes.
  • June 15th: Senior students sit the GAT (General Achievement Test).
  • Year 5 Taster Days: Our feeder primary school students will participate in a series of engaging activities to experience a taste of what awaits them at Hampton Park Secondary College.

We recognize that this period will be busy yet exhilarating for our school community, as we continue to showcase the exceptional programs and opportunities available at Hampton Park Secondary College.
