Mabo House News
Dear Mabo Students, Staff and Families,
What a busy and fantastic term we are having so far, from Athletics Carnival, Multicultural Assembly, to Outdoor Education surfing, Year 10 Careers Expo and celebrating IDAHOBIT we have had a jam-packed start to the term.
We are thrilled to announce that our school's recent Athletics Carnival was a tremendous success. The students exhibited outstanding house spirit and active participation, resulting in an overall victory for Mabo House!
Despite the rain and wind, the atmosphere was filled with excitement, determination, and teamwork as students and staff cheered for their housemates and competed in various athletic events. We would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the students who participated and contributed to this achievement. One thing I love about the Mabo house is that all students support each other and give 100 percent effort and participation.
The students have also participated in the annual Attitudes to School Survey which provides us with collecting student voice and once we have the results, we are able to work together to improve our school community.
The Mabo Team would like to extend our best wishes to our Year 7 students who are embarking on their exciting camp adventure next week. This camp provides a wonderful opportunity for them to bond with their classmates, develop new skills, and create lasting memories. We encourage our Year 7s to embrace this experience and make the most of every moment.
We are thrilled by an exciting opportunity for our Year 9 students who will be participating in a city experience later this term, where they will have the chance to explore various cultural, historical, and educational sites. This excursion aims to broaden their horizons, foster independence, and ignite their curiosity. We encourage our Year 9s to prepare for this enriching experience and engage with the planned activities. Planning and key information will take place in Mentor sessions over the coming weeks to support you in being prepared.
As we approach the end of the term, it is essential for our students to begin thinking about their future academic pathways. Course counselling sessions will be held in the next term for students in years 7-11. These sessions are designed to provide guidance and support in selecting subjects and pathways for the upcoming academic year. We encourage both students and parents/caregivers to actively participate in these sessions to ensure informed decision-making. Students will begin to work with their Mentors on preparing for their course counselling, exploring pathways and creating a potential plan to bring to their course counselling sessions. Thank you to the Mentors in advance for their support with this.
We encourage all students to finish on a strong note. This is an opportune time to review study habits, manage time effectively, and seek assistance from teachers whenever needed. Let's strive for excellence and make the most of the remaining weeks to consolidate learning and achieve our academic goals.
Take care and we look forward to continuing working with you all,
Erin Louden
