Dear Parents, Students, and Staff,
Welcoming New Staff Members
We are pleased to introduce our new staff members, David Van Pelt and Brooke Douglas, who have joined our team as Learning Specialists. Their expertise and dedication to education will play a crucial role in building the capacity of our staff in effective classroom practices. We look forward to the positive impact they will have on our students' learning journeys.
Student Attendance
Improved learning outcomes result from high levels of attendance. Congratulations to the hundreds of students who are maintaining a 95% attendance or better for the year to date. We are seeing big improvements with attendance across the school. Fantastic work and keep up the great effort!
House Athletics
I wish to congratulate all competitors for their efforts during the recent House Athletics carnival at Casey Fields. Despite the cold and damp conditions, most events were able to be completed. Th competition was held in great spirit, with many personal best results achieved.
The final points are as follows:
1st – Mabo 484 points
2nd – Freeman 465 points
3rd – Walton 433 points
4th – Hollows (351 points)
NAPLAN
Thank you to all Year 7 and 9 students for their work with completing the NAPLAN. The NAPLAN will provide important information as to the students level of achievement but also their learning growth in Literacy and Numeracy.
National Careers Week
Recently, as part of National Careers Week we hosted Careers Showcase. 30 exhibitors attended. Special guests including motivational speaker and members of our Alumni.
Ardoch and Headstart staff assisted in hosting mock interviews for students.
Congratulations to the Careers Team for their excellent work in supporting our students.
IDAHOBIT Day - 17th May
Hampton Park Secondary college is an inclusive school that supports all students. Recently, we supported IDAHOBIT day. The international Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia. We started the day with a breakfast and information and discussion session were held during Mentoring.
Multicultural Assembly: A Celebration of Cultures
Last week at our Multicultural Assembly, Hampton Park Secondary College, celebrated the rich tapestry of cultures within our community. As we continue to foster an environment of tolerance, understanding, and unity. Our Multicultural Assembly is a special occasion where students and staff come together to honour and appreciate the diverse cultures represented within our school. Through music, dance, spoken word, and other artistic expressions, we aim to create a vibrant tapestry that highlights the beauty and uniqueness of various traditions. This assembly not only provides an opportunity for our students to showcase their talents but also promotes mutual respect and appreciation for different backgrounds.
Thank you to our special guests, School Council President - Luke Delutis, Local Member -Gary Maas, Paora Te Paki (CMY), Rehmatullah (Alumni), Kiah, and Elly (Gathering Place) for joining us on this special occasion.
This year, we were thrilled to introduce the inaugural Multicultural showcase on Thursday evening. Thank you to the many families who attended, we appreciate your wonderful support. This event featured an array of performances, that offer deeper insights into different cultures. Students, parents, and staff had the opportunity to learn from each other's experiences, and customs. We aim for this showcase will serve as a platform to strengthen the bonds within our diverse community. As always, we encourage your participation in these events as they provide invaluable opportunities for us to come together as a community, learn from one another, and strengthen the bonds that make Hampton Park Secondary, such a special place.

Sir Doug Nichols Round Celebration: Honouring Indigenous Heritage
Last Saturday, 40 students and staff attended Marvel Stadium for the clash between St. Kilda and Hawthorn as part of the Sir Doug Nichols- indigenous round. As part of our partnership with the St. Kilda Football club, students for the second year, participated in the guard of honour to welcome players at the start of the game. Prior to the game, members of our STEAM team assisted with the creation of the indigenous gift that is used as part of ceremonial feature at the start of each game during the indigenous rounds.
Thank you to Amy Mraz for her leadership and to Deb Edwards for her assistance in supporting and strengthening our partnership with St. Kilda Football Club.
Year 7 Camp
This week, our Year 7 students headed off to their transition camp to Lady Northcote Camp. Students will develop their leadership skills, teamwork, problem solving as well as building and strengthening connections. Have a great time!
Year 9 City Week
Next week, our Year 9 students engage in our exciting City Week Program. Student will explore many aspects of the Melbourne CBD, including the National Gallery of Victoria, The Big Issue, Old Melbourne Goal, Street Art The MCG and Sports Museum, and more Have fun and learn lots.
