Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

We have had a wonderful week of warm weather with little wind. This has been perfect for our AFL Clinics for years 1-6 and the commencement of before school training for students in Cross Country.

There has also been a large number of students enrolling in before school Tennis with the Fremantle Tennis Club.

DISCO.

Our thanks to the Year 6 committee who with the year 6 students put together a brilliant Disco recently at Sullivan Hall. The number of students who attended gave both the junior and senior discos plenty of atmosphere and the area outside the hall was ideal for parents to catch up.

ROOMS 5 and 6 SPA.

Parents from these rooms enjoyed a recent spa experience as part of Mother’s Day.

ASSEMBLY.

Congratulations to Mrs Felton and Room 9 on their assembly recently, and to all of our students who received Honour certificates.

P&C DAY.

Today is P&C Day. Our school community would like to congratulate the members of the P&C for all of their efforts during the last 12 months. Our thanks for distributing funds this year towards computers, resources for the Pre-Primary, Decodable books to go across the school, Year 6 Leaver shirts and contributing towards classroom allowances for materials and sticker rewards. Our wonderful canteen and uniform service would not be able to run without the support of our parents and canteen staff. Thank you also to the other committees and office bearers for their time and commitment.

The P&C is currently working towards their next function, our annual Quiz Night on 24 June.

COMING UP.

School photos will be undertaken on Friday 26 May. Could all students remember to wear their school uniform on this day.

Room 2 will run the assembly on 1 June.

Staff will also undertake activities around the acknowledgement of ‘Sorry Day’ and also Reconciliation Week. One event that has been planned is a Water Corporation Aboriginal cultural incursion.

As part of our recent staff meeting, we reviewed and discussed information and resources that the Education Department has put together on the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice to Parliament, and the referendum planned for later in the year.

THANK YOU.

The Rotary club expressed their gratitude for the overflowing basket of tinned goods donated by our school that will be forwarded to the St Pats’ outreach service this winter.

PLASTIC BREAD BAGS.

Currently the school is involved with collecting empty bread bags. These will be collected and recycled. The initiative runs until early July.

Our goal is to collect 20 kilograms. Boxes are located outside the office. If you are able to support this initiative that would be great. As an incentive, the school will earn points toward sporting equipment based on the weight of what we receive.

Our staff are also recycling their coffee cups under an initiative with Simply Cups. These cups are stored in tubes and collected by a local business from school.

SCHOOL BOARD.

At our recent Board meeting, we reviewed data from our 2022 surveys along with the draft Annual Report. Testing and data collected during term 1 was discussed as part of our Business Plan Tracker.

The comparative budget and one line budget were tabled.

There was discussion about the opportunity for parents to catch up with staff before the Semester One Report. The Horizons Agreement for 2023 was presented and an update of initiatives and projects was given by staff. Preparation is also underway for our three-year Review later in the year.

There are two vacancies coming up for our School Board. If anyone may be interested in being part of our Board, please make contact with any of the Board members or the office. We have further information on what the role entails as well as nomination forms.
