Student Pathways

Career Pathways at St Anne's College

It has been a big couple of weeks focussing on Career pathways at the college.

Over the past few weeks our year 10 cohort have been attending careers counselling sessions in the lead up to their year 11 2024 subject selections. I would like to take this opportunity to thank those families and students who have invested their time to attend these meetings. It is an essential step to ensure students feel supported and confident in selecting subjects that align with their post school pathways.

On Thursday 11th May, our year 9 & 10 students went to the Careers Day Out in Shepparton.  It was a fantastic day out, where our students had the opportunity to talk to a wide variety of local industry representatives and tertiary institutions, and employment agencies. Some brave students got their hands dirty learning how to lay a brick wall, wire up a powerpoint and plaster a wall. Flower arrangements, drawing ‘blood’ from a cannula, CPR and even driving a forklift were also popular activities that many of our keen students had a go at.

We even had 2 very lucky students: Gurdeep Gill and Will Skinner who won themselves a $50 prize by entering the quiz on the day. Well done boys!

On Thursday 18th May, Year 11 arrived at school nice and early to make their way to the Victorian Careers & VCE Expo in Melbourne. The day provided students with the opportunity to sit in on a variety of seminars that ranged from VCE study tips to Careers in the defence force. There were also hundreds of exhibitors there on the day for students to speak to and gain information on post school opportunities throughout Victoria.

Latrobe Visit:

On Wednesday 31st we were lucky enough to have Elicia from Latrobe University come in during a lunch break to provide students with information on the alternative entry pathways Latrobe University offers including their ASPIRE early entry program.
