SWAT Camp
Student Wellbeing Action Team
During the SWAT camp we did many different workshops on things like emotions and influence. We also go to do some amazing team bonding activities and build new connections with people for different school. I am so glad I got to go on SWAT it was an amazing opportunity to meet new people and develop new skills. With all our new skills we have learnt from this camp we are now trying to make a small change in a community such as our school or out sports clubs. It can even just be as simple as starting a conversation or helping someone in a small way.

During May 10th to May 12th, 2023,
Myself and four more-year 10s went to a wellbeing camp called the SWAT camp during that time we experienced workshops that taught use the meaning of different types of wellbeing and PERMAH and how it can be used in everyday lives.
I had a very good experience meeting so many more people that we shared the same meaning to be at that camp and having fun outside the learning space.
One of my favourite days is when we had our activity day where we had to climb up walls, crawl through muddy tunnels and swinging over a mud pit.
but the most important reason we were there was to find a project that can help with wellbeing and mental health I was in a group of 4 other people that went to ther schools, and we decided to do our project about how mental health and wellbeing could be shown more not only in school but with the older generation to.
But at the end of the day the camp was probably the best camp I’ve had during my high school, life meeting new people from other school, learning new skills that cannot also help me but help other people, and finally having the time of my life crawling through muddy tunnels to jumping into mud pits and finally having fun talking to new people and for those new people becoming friends with them.
I would 100% recommend this experience to the next year, year 10s.

My experience during the SWAT camp was amazing from the people to the environment to the things we talked about. One of the main things we did where called workshops, these where hour long sessions about topics that where wellbeing related like the PERMAH concept, values, or even physical wellbeing. But my favourite workshop was the one we did about relationships, this really focused on how we can develop new relationships and expand on current relationships this was really helpful and easy to apply to ongoing life.
At the end of the Camp, we also had to come up with and project to work on related to the topics we learnt about. My group and I are doing some lessons with year 7s teaching them about wellbeing related topics. Overall this camps was such a cool experience and I would highly recommend to anyone who is offered the opportunity.

"Student Wellbeing Action Team or SWAT as it's more formally known was an amazing experience! We got to fully focus on workshops about the wellbeing of our own and those around us too. It was especially interesting because the workshops on wellbeing weren't just about being told the aspects of wellbeing, they were open discussions between the entire group as well as the youth workers who were running the program. After the three-day camp we get to create our own projects on wellbeing to benefit us or a community around us. My group's goal is to create open comfortable discussions about wellbeing and spread positivity. We want those around us to have the same knowledge we gained while on the swat camp without it being forced like most programs. We haven't exactly discussed yet the way we are going to accomplish this, but we do have some bright ideas that could work!"
