Principal's Report

with Simone Roy

With only 3 weeks left in this 9 week term, much continues to happen every day. Teachers will be spending Friday correcting and writing the end of semester reports for all students. These reports focus on each student’s academic achievements and progress in the first half of the year. These reports will be released to families on the last day of term.

Upcoming senior students’ assessment schedule

Coming up in Week 8, Year 11s will have practice exams. These are designed to help students become familiar with exam conditions. They also show the students how they are progressing in their learning for Unit 1.

All students enrolled in a Unit 3/4 study sequence (often called a “Year 12 subject”) are required to sit the General Achievement Test (GAT), on Thursday 15th June. While students can’t really study for this test, as it is based on general knowledge and skills including communication, mathematics, science and technology, the arts, humanities and social sciences, it is really important for students to just do their best as this is used as a back up option in the rare situation where a student can’t sit an exam.

COVID cases

Illness has hit hard this year, with cases of gastro, colds, Influenza A and COVID all being reported to school, both here and at the primary school. The best way to stay well is to practice good hand hygiene and to stay away from others if you are sick. While it is only a recommendation to isolate if you test positive to COVID these days, it makes sense to stay away until you are better wherever possible. Keeping up to date with immunisations is also a good way to prevent getting serious cases of sickness.

Rapid Antigen Tests are still available from the Office for anyone wanting them. Please just come in and ask.

Dates to remember:

Friday 9th June: Student free day for report writing.

Monday 12th June: King’s Birthday public holiday.
