Eucharist Reflection Day
Last Friday (26/5), the Year 4 Candidates for First Eucharist (and those Year 4 students supporting them in their preparation) attended a Retreat Day at the Holy Cross Templestowe alongside students from Our Lady’s and the SHWP Parish.
The day was facilitated by Gen Bryant and her team. (https://genbryant.com) and was a great opportunity to help prepare these students for the Sacrament of the Eucharist which they will receive for the first time on the 10th or 17th of June.

What is the Pentecost?
On Sunday 28th May, we celebrated the Pentecost at Mass. As a class, we brainstormed on what we already knew about the Pentecost such as flames appearing above the disciples' heads when they were praying in the room. Some of the students recalled that it was quite windy out and that a strange and different language was being spoken. We then shared a story about the Pentecost and explored the timeline and some of the important details about Pentecost.
We discussed that the Pentecost occurred 50 days after Easter Sunday, this was the first time that the people at the time had experienced the Holy Spirit and 3000 people were baptised by John the Baptist on that day.
Students then created a fact file on the Pentecost.
Sunday Gospel
The liturgy of the Catholic Church provides a framework for reflection which is used by Catholics throughout the world. Each week in the Newsletter, you will find the Sunday Gospel as well as some discussion questions to have with your child/ren.
A reading from the holy Gospel according to John
Jesus said to Nicodemus,
‘God loved the world so much
that he gave his only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him may not be lost
but may have eternal life.
For God sent his Son into the world
not to condemn the world,
but so that through him the world might be saved.
No one who believes in him will be condemned;
but whoever refuses to believe is condemned already,
because he has refused to believe
in the name of God’s only Son.’

Discussion Questions
1. Think of all the wonderful things that God has made. How can we praise God, the
Father, Son and Holy Spirit for all that we have been given?
2. God sent his Son Jesus because he loves us. How can we return that love?
