Experiential Learning

On Friday 5th of May we had our first XP (Experiential Learning) session with the Year 7 & 8 students. XP has been developed to merge Year 7 & 8 Careers, Respectful Relationships and Pastoral Care to give us the time and scope to provide opportunities for our students to learn by doing.

The day 1 program was dictated by the inclement weather and we finally settled on conducting our Amazing Race as the first activity of the day without creating any agreements on how we would be together. The teamwork, strategising, and respect for self and other was magnificent to witness in an authentic manner and allowed us to create our shared-agreements based on what we witnessed.

We spent a lot of time in discussion, sharing ideas and working through the co-creation of our own acknowledgement of country – which is still a work in progress. The students reflected on their ideas and experiences through some journalling activities before a group of students prepared and cooked for the group (lunch didn’t happen until 2:15).

The students chipped in together to thoroughly clean the Football and Netball Clubrooms and like that the day was done. The highlight of the day was watching the students play a team-based hide and seek activity which was amazing to watch how they worked together. We didn’t get through half as much as we thought, but we will look to integrate some of the future planning into other classes with them and hope to see, over time, some of what we saw reflected within the school environment.

Uniform

As the depths of Winter approach, a reminder to all students and families that only Edenhope College uniform should be worn at school. We will be continuing to follow up with students and their families to ensure all students are wearing the Edenhope College Council approved uniform.

We understand that there may be short periods of time when a student is out of uniform, please provide a signed note in the diary for these short periods of time and we will issue a uniform pass.

If students and families require new or used uniform please contact the front office for assistance.

Interim (Progress) Reports

Interim or Progress reports are available to families four times a year, one for every term and can be accessed via Xuno or you may ask to be provided with a hardcopy.

These reports are designed to give you regular updates on your child’s performance against our school values and their academic achievement, effort and behaviour.

At Edenhope College we see the importance of high student effort and positive behaviour in the classroom and how this affects a student’s learning.  We hope that progress reports spark conversation about your child’s learning – between parents/guardians, students and their teachers.

Cross Country

Two weeks ago I had the privilege of taking Marcus McIntyre, Oscar Dunstan and Eliza McDonnell to Murtoa to compete in the Little Desert Cross Country event. All three students represented themselves and the College brilliantly, with their efforts seeing all three qualifying to go to the next level in Warrnambool on May 29th. Great effort.
