BOOK WEEK – CHARACTER DRESSUP DAY

Once more, another themed day has been completed! On Friday the 13th of September, McClelland College held its annual ‘Book Week Character Day’. Students could choose to attend school as a character of choice, or could spectate at our Costume Competition.

Collectively, the SRC was extremely impressed, not only for your active participation by attending in costume, but also remembering to donate a simple gold coin. Although, not all students remembered, a large majority had brought a donation to assist in funding our charity of choice, which this year was the ‘Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation’. The ALNF (as it’s commonly known) assists in developing and raising the standards of the youth’s understanding of Literacy and Numeracy. Of course, the selection of this charity was an easy pick, as we show an understanding towards those who may not be capable of taking in what is taught. The ALNF will provide activities and courses that come at a reasonable price and will help in educating until there is no need.

We had many excellent entrants in the costume competition, as you can tell by the photos shared on the page. There was no lack in contestants, which was excellent, as students having no fear in presenting themselves is always great to see. Now, after a roaring effort from all contestants, Cassidy Engell and Amber Lee came out victorious, dressed as Dorothy from ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and Gilbert Blythe from ‘Anne of Green Gables’. But this is not to undermine any of our other students, as we appreciated all of you competing.

Other winners were

Year 7 Ruby Grange – Hermione

Year 8 Isla Young – Mathilda Forsyth – Princess Bubblegum

Year 9 Lachlan Daws – Luke Skywalker

Year 10 Vivone Street – Scout Finch

                         VCE Ashleigh Hogan – Hermione

LEADERSHIP ROLES FOR 2020

It is once again time for future leaders to step up for selection to the 2020 SRC.

Students who wish to be considered for election should start finding out about the role from current members, coordinators and Mrs. Holt, the SRC convenor.

Everyone has something to offer, so come and talk to us about how you might fit into the leadership group.

Interviews for Year 11 and 12 positions will be conducted early in term 4. Other positions will be filled through an election process later in the term.
