An Update From 4G

Year 4G have been busy writing play scripts based on the story of The Little Red Hen using their own characters and ideas. We have had great fun performing them in front of the class and also for our Year 2F buddies.

Congratulations to Ruby, Lara, Milly and Kiera on their amazing effort in raising $95.00 dollars for the Australian Red Cross. This amount was raised in just one week! Winners were announced at the assembly on Wednesday.

Patrick and John from 4G were voted Equal 1st Best and Fairest for their football season, playing in Under 10's at South Melbourne Districts. Congratulations also to Max (4G), who plays in the same team, and was awarded the Most Improved Player.

A Few Highlights From 4P

2018 Rugby Gala Day

On the 14th of September 2018, 5 teams for Galilee went out to Clayton to play rugby. We traveled in the bus for what seemed like hours. We got to Clayton and unpacked all of our stuff from the bus and set up our  area in the shade.

My team, The boys Tag team, set out for their first game against St. Joan of Arc. They were on top in the first half of our game with 8-0 to lead by 2 tries at the break. Angus had to go off with a sore back. We got woken up in the second half and played one of our best halves in the day. Sebastian scored our first try by narrowly avoiding all of the St. Joan of Arc players and then our first try! The score was now 4-8 and Jordan had just come on. After a knock on from the other team we had the ball and we passed to Jordan and he ran down the pitch and scored! Just after we celebrated, the siren went. It was a close match, a draw 8-8! We then had a rest for 40 minutes.

Our next game was against St Patrick's. Nicholas tossed the coin and won it. We chose for them to kick to us. Marco and Nicholas got a try for us and we kept that 8-0 lead until the dying seconds and they scored to make it 8-4 but that didn’t stop our win.

We had a big half an hour rest until our next game against St. Mary's Murrumbeena, which was also a close game with us getting the first try but their team came back and scored a try to level the scores. No one else scored in the rest of the match so the scores finished level 4-4. We had a 45 minute break until our final game before the finals against St Mary’s Malvern East.

It was a do or die match. They came out of the blocks with a try and our team just couldn’t score that game and we lost 4-0.

We were very nervous about if we were going to get into the finals. After a long wait we found out that we had got into the Grand Final against St. Joan of Arc. We were really excited but we knew this was going to be our toughest game so far because of the Grand Final pressure and we already drew with them before, but we didn’t let that worry us. Going the whole game with no tries, we went into overtime and they had the better of us with their runner breaking through our defence and scoring the winning try. The refs pondered for a bit if they should keep on going with extra time but the official said that was the golden goal.

Over the day, our team had won once, drawn twice and lost once, so we came second overall. We were very disappointed not to win but we got a team photo with our coach, Tegan We were very pleased with our effort and performance on the day.

Thanks to Tegan for coaching us, Mr Tobin for organising the day and the Galilee Year 5/6 Tag Team!
