CHINESE SISTER SCHOOL VISIT

Over the last week WHPS hosted students from our sister school, the Wenjiang Experimental School in Chengdu for the second time. Students participated in our school program from Year 3-6, learnt much about school and life in Australia and made many new friends. For the first time a number of WHPS families kindly hosted the students during a home stay which was a very positive experience. Thank you to all the families who hosted, your offer was very much appreciated. A few parents have asked when our school would visit our sister school in Chengdu. If an exchange program was to occur it would not be till next year at the earliest.

YEAR FIVE AND SIX CAMP

Next week our Year 5 and 6 students head off to the Log Cabin Camp in Creswick for three days for an exciting outdoor education program and a visit to Sovereign Hill in Ballarat. Our camp Program is wonderful opportunity for our students to develop and grow many skills such as resilience, perseverance, independence and risk taking. We wish all the students and teachers have a wonderful time and look forward to hearing about their experiences when they return.

EASTER EGG RAFFLE

Thank you to all families who kindly donated an Easter egg or bunny for the upcoming Easter Raffle. The raffle will be drawn on Monday 1st April at assembly which starts at 2:40pm. Due to the generosity of the school community we always have many amazing prizes that will be drawn on the day so please bring your raffle tickets back to the office ASAP.

ATHLETICS SPORTS

The Year 3-6 Athletic Sports are coming up soon on Tuesday 2nd April at the Bill Sewart Athletics Track. If you are able to help help on the day please contact Ms Purcell. Families and friends of the school are always welcome to attend and watch as well.

NEW PORTABLE UPDATE

Works on the new portable are progressing at a rapid rate with the completion date likely to be at the end of the term, if not earlier. Once the portable is handed over to the school, works will commence on painting the portable Wheelers Hill blue, redeveloping the playground area behind the portable and relocating the gaga and sandpits. For the rest of this year it will used as a additional space within the school in anticipation for 2020 when it will home to two classrooms.

HARMONY DAY

Just a reminder our annual Harmony Day will be on Friday 5th April, the last day of term. More details will be available next week on Compass but please remember students can wear their traditional or cultural dress or clothing on this day and bring in a plate of food to share. It is a wonderful day to celebrate the cultural diversity we have here at WHPS.

END OF TERM

Term 1 has flown by and the end of this term is not very far away on FRIDAY 5TH APRIL. Just a reminder school finishes at the earlier time of 2:30pm this day. Term 2 commences on TUESDAY 23RD APRIL, one day later than normal due to Easter Monday.
