On Monday 25 June, our vocal students presented their first performance of the year. They sang a solo repertoire in an informal concert for each other. They are showing some great development under the excellent tuition from Hannah Magee and it won’t be long before they are performing for the public.
On Tuesday 26 June, the Junior Concert Band presented their first public performance. They performed exceptionally well, given they had only been learning for just over a term. In addition to presenting some short pieces from their tuition books, they were able to present three full length band pieces. We look forward to their next performance of more complex musical works.
The first Tuesday of the holidays saw five dedicated music students attend Studio 52 in Collingwood to record a couple of tracks for the Kool Skools Recording Project. Adam Cohen, Mitchell Hawke, Noah Fraser, Drew Humphries and Dante McNamara produced two strong tracks. They will be available later in the year on the Moira Shire Kool Skools CD.
On Tuesday 28 August, Senior Concert Band will be travelling to Melbourne to perform at the Victorian School Music Festival. All rehearsals and lessons are super important between now and then, so that we can perform at our best. Even more importantly, all students need to be practicing their instruments daily. Practice should be efficient, effective and goal oriented for maximum success.
