Welcome To The Library

My name is Helen Styles, my job as Library Technician is to manage the school library.

My responsibilities include, purchasing reading material for our students and the staff, maintaining our collections, covering and repairing library items. The past two years I have coordinated the Victorian Premiers Reading Challenge.

Book fairs and special literary events are not to be missed, and proceeds from these events help with the purchasing of new library items collection.

I create displays relevant to projects occurring around the school or relevant to the units of enquiry that students are studying.

I have incorporated ebooks’ and auditory books into our library collection.  Recently we moved to a new library lending system which has enabled students to search, loan and reserve items independently.

Unlike the public library we do not use The Dewey Decimal System, instead we have genre sections, for example Travel, Lifestyle, Classics.

On any given day approximately 300-400 books will move in and out of our library.

Our library space is a warm and inviting place where students can enjoy quiet reading during class time and the second half of lunch.

If you would like to help in the library pop in and see me, I’d love to meet you.

FROM THE HEALTH CENTRE

As winter colds hit please be mindful to keep your children home if they have a fever or are unwell from cold symptoms. Sometimes an extra day of rest is all they need to recover. Many winter viruses last only a couple of days however if you are concerned about your child’s health, please see your GP.

It might also be a good idea to discuss the Flu Vaccination with your GP, especially those students with Asthma.

Some facts from the Health Centre this week….

This week in the Health Centre we saw:

23 Grazes

8  with a temperature

13 with cold symptoms

11 sore throats

6 blood noses

12 bumps to the head

11 headaches

3 toothaches

20 tummy aches

10 clothes changes

VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTIONS

It has come to our attention that some families might like to pay for voluntary fees but are unable to do so via the Compass system after they have already paid for the school fees.  If you would like to make a payment you can do so via the school office, either with a credit card or correct cash.

Voluntary Financial ContributionsDetailsSuggested annual contributions
School NurseIt has always been the school’s priority to provide a high level of health care to students through the employment of a fully qualified nurse.  To ensure the continuation of this important care we strongly encourage families to support this program through payment of the school nurse fee
