School Council

President's Report

The days get that little bit longer, all of a sudden trees and gardens have that little bit extra green, and before you know it it’s week 4 of term 3.  Unbelievably our new school is now a fully operational school that beats to the familiar rhythm of the school year.

At the School Council level the first half of 2019 has been all about setting up various policies and initiatives that will help shape the school. Importantly we have been in detailed discussions with the Grand Prix and Parks Victoria about the interface with both organisations.

In exciting news the GP has agreed to move the fence around the school to the edge of the park in front of the school. This will enable the space to be used as play area in term one of next year. This will be a great space to kick a footy, play cricket, chase/tips in a safe space that is easily controlled by the yard supervisors.

With half the year now behind us, our thoughts turn to the second year of our school. We are currently discussing the growth profile of the school, working through the implications of that growth and ensuring that we are able to service the demand within our catchment and the siblings of those that are enrolled in the school.

There are a number of discussions that are being undertaken with the various stakeholders and sub-committees. That said, as ever the council remains open to discussions and ideas from the wider parent group. So if you have any ideas or thoughts please approach any one of us.

Sponsorship - Working Party - Are You Interested?

If there are any parents interested in joining the Sponsorship Working Party for a short term project,  please contact the school via email south.melbourne.park.ps@edumail.vic.gov.au or in person at the Office.

We are particularly interested to have parents involved who have skills in this area however, this is not a requirement.
