SENIOR SECONDARY ASDAN

The turmoil of the last few months has thrown up enormous challenges for the Asdan program, including adapting to online learning and the cancellation of all external programs for the foreseeable future. Students in SSE & SSF have made the best of it by completing a substantial amount of the written component of their course. Our current Module is ‘Work Awareness’. We have so far completed ‘Working World’ and ‘Workplaces’ sections and are currently working through ‘Health and Safety’.

Students are developing an understanding of the place of work in life and family and its importance for a healthy community.

JOB CAMP

Because our work experience placements are still closed, for the last three Thursdays we have been doing Job Camp at school.  Job Camp is run by Short Courses Australia and a trainer has been coming to school to teach the students Safe Food Handling; Barista skills and Café Skills. In the Barista training we learnt where coffee comes from, how the beans are roasted and how to make different types of coffee.  In Café Skills we learnt how to set the tables, take an order and carry three plate at once. In the Safe food Handling we learnt about cross contamination and hazards in the kitchen.
