Poor Person's Mass - Live Streamed

A brave new world was entered on 19th June when we streamed the Poor Person's Mass to every class and learning area in the school. Having filmed the mass the day before, Mr Lam edited the video to include the dramatisation of the first reading and the gospel. This was done because we were unable to adhere to social distancing rules that Father Brian had to follow. I walked around the school to view how mass was progressing and it was a little strange watching Father Brian on so many big screens while students followed the responses on a google slides presentation on their laptops.

Thanks to the Information Technology department it all went seamlessly. Thanks must also go to Ms Garofalo who leads our choir so beautifully and Mr Hickey for his musical talents.  The Year 11 Drama class brought the readings to life and the celebrations leaders worked so well to cover every aspect of the Mass preparation. Finally thanks to Ms Diep and the Vinnies students plus all students who donated so generously to the drive for the "Vinnies" of Springvale.  With the assistance of the our students we will deliver the donations to Sr Mary and Robin Epstein, who work tirelessly to look after our community. It was a great example of the Kildare Ministries Living Justice Principles being lived out as we continue to address our school theme of "Justice:  Be Strong, Be Kind, Be Just.

St Vincent De Paul Committee

Monday 22nd June, the Year 10 St. Vincent De Paul Committee gathered the food donations from the Poor Person's Mass in boxes to deliver to St Joseph's Parish to replenish their food bank. Throughout the whole experience, we felt really happy to help those who don't have as much access to food as we do and appreciate what we already have. It made our hearts warm to know we were helping others without expecting anything in return. Furthermore, we are ever grateful to have this opportunity to provide assistance to the community and hope all those struggling all the best and happiness. It was truly an eye-opening experience and we would highly recommend members of the school to join the St Vincent De Paul Group.
