Wellbeing

Dear Parents and Friends,

We are at the end of an extraordinary Term 2 where the experience of adapting to living in

the COVID19 world has reminded us of the importance of developing resilience to cope with unexpected changes and challenges. Our young women of Killester have embraced remote learning with positivity and reached out to their teachers and families when needed. A highlight of this term has been the wonderful way students embraced the opportunity to manage their learning from home. The Passion Projects completed by the Year 7 to 10 students are wonderful examples of self-directed learning, demonstrating the essential skills of adaptability, problem solving, creativity and communication. The Year 11 and 12 students have shown maturity, responsibility and strength, managing their earning in these important VCE years.

Teachers have developed and adapted their teaching to ensure learning continues and students are supported academically and pastorally. We value and encourage open and frequent communication with parents as we continue the journey in this COVID19 world. A common phrase during this time has been “unpredictability” and even as we start the school holidays there is still uncertainty around us. To support the wellbeing of our young women our priority has been to create stability and offer support when students are experiencing a range of emotions.

The Term 2 school holidays offers the opportunity for rest and family time. We look forward to start Term 3 revitalized and ready to continue the learning journey with our young women. This article below is a useful guide to assist parents to manage and support the varying emotions their daughters may be experiencing during this time.

Wishing all our families a peaceful and safe Term 2 break.

Regards
